    Yesterday I recorded my annual “Top Lessons Learned In 2024”… 

    It’s my 8th year doing it and it’s one of my favourite things to do each year.

    I kicked off the process when I was in Egypt a few weeks back, where I sat with a blank sheet of paper and just jotted points which come to mind.

    It ends up being a braindump of about 20-30 things.

    I then flick through my calendar, my journal entries and my photo album to trigger any more insights before I start consolidating my thoughts.

    My goal is to bunch together similar items and spot themes, before formalising it into a list of 10-20 lessons.

    I then like to write all about them as a memory to look back on; I find this allows me to go deep on each, and try to figure out some of the answers to the questions I’m asking myself.

    Before I start this writing, I flick through old instalments, which is where the value of this annual exercise goes up.

    It’s cool to see how your thoughts evolve over time, and how the stage of life you’re at can dictate what you learn.

    This time I came up with 12, and I’ll be publishing the article, podcast and video on Boxing Day. Stay tuned!

    3 Ways To Feel, Look & Perform Better


    1. Passive Vs Active Coping

    When it comes to it, there’s only ways to deal with stressful scenarios: actively or passively.

    Active coping examples include: 
    • Having hard conversations
    • Focusing on solutions
    • Controlling what you can
    • Letting go of what you can’t, etc…
    Passive coping examples include:
    • Binge eating/snacking
    • Drugs
    • Alcohol
    • Escaping reality
    • Hoping things will change without action
    Your approach will determine your results. The one consensus is whatever problem comes your way, food will NEVER be the solution.

    Being able to (and desiring to) actively solve problems in your life is the KEY to breaking the cycle between the “trigger moment” and your response.

    Simple when written in a newsletter here. Much harder when breaking years of habits. I hope this at least brings some awareness to your own approach to stress this week!

    2. Is Soy Bad For You?

    Almost daily I get asked questions about soy…

    Is it healthy? Is it going to ruin your hormones? Is it suitable for me? Will it ruin my body?

    And so on…

    3. Eat more and lose weight?

    Every time we onboard a new group of members we always get asked one thing:

    “Is it normal to feel so full?”

    This happens almost every time you start the RNT Journey because of one simple change:

    Going from low volume processed foods to high volume nutrient dense foods.

    The extra fibre and volume is an easy “trick” to make you feel full, satiated and not actually “feel” like you’re dieting.

    Which for anyone trying to lose or maintain weight, is gold!

    I suspect with January around the corner it’s going to be no different!
