    Greetings from Mumbai!

    I love the energy of this place - it’s electric. It’s a city that never sleeps, filled with people who want to make something of themselves.

    A few years ago here my dad and I had a near crash experience in a rickshaw, which isn’t exactly uncommon. But I learnt in our interaction with the driver to never settle, and to never allow yourself to stagnate.

    The last time I came here in October 2022, there were some decent vegan options. But just using the delivery apps and visiting a few cafes this week has shocked me fast this city (and country) is developing.

    Eating vegetarian here has always been easy, but cutting dairy to go vegan is now growing in popularity.

    So much so - on a more global scale, people want to know how to either reduce their meat/fish/dairy, or cut it out altogether.

    Here’s some food for thought… 

    Are vegan meals automatically lower in calories? (I propose this because of the “ah, it’s healthy, so I can eat whatever I like!)

    While a vegan diet can be healthy, it's important to watch your calories and balance your macros. 

    Follow these guidelines to help: 
    1. Measure your portions: Portion control is key for weight loss, even on a plant-based diet.
    2. Balance your macros: Look at food labels to understand the split between carbs, fats, and protein, and the total calories in every meal. (This is a great education tool as well!)
    3. Meal planning: Take a structured approach to your diet.
    4. Treats: Allow for small indulgences that won't sabotage your weight loss progress. (Like my chocolate tofu mousse here - usually a daily staple back home!)
