Busy New Dad & City Executive Sameer Lost 30 kg And Kept It Off For 5 Years (And Counting!)

Sameer’s journey is an excellent example of executing our five-phase method to perfection. He lost 30 kilos with us in his first year and has managed to KEEP it off ever since. Five years in, he recalls his weight loss journey experience…

Bad Habits Forming

Prior to joining RNT, Sameer was a new dad working a busy job.

Because of his stressful schedule, Sameer had picked up a lot of bad habits before having kids in his early adult life.

“I had bad habits through my 20s and early 30s. I suffered from that early stage of the career, working long hours, a highly stressful job, trying to balance having a relationship, family commitments etc.”

“Going out for after work drinks, very classic for in working in London.”

Food habits were Sameer’s ultimate weakness; making bad choices for dinners, eating late and choosing convenience foods was all too common for Sameer.

“There was a lack of understanding of moderation, as well as just education around what’s good and what’s not good, especially in certain quantities. I think it was a combination of those aspects.”

But after having his daughter, he realised that he needed to start working on his health and work on his lifestyle.

New Baby Changing It All

Sameer realised that the way he was living his life would not allow him to make the most of time with his daughter.

“That’s what’s giving me the realization of family ‘first.’

“I still recall just before my young one was born, working sort of 12-hour days, being out in the evening getting back, sleeping four or five hours a night… Then just being pretty passed out on the couch pretty much most of the day at the weekend.

“I didn’t get much time to spend with Mrs. or to do nice things.”

After seeing a friend go on the RNT Journey, he decided he wanted to make the same changes.

He booked a call and started his journey with us.

“I suppose I’ve always had this kind of desire and passion to try and be fit and healthy but never really made any sort of progress or any sort of major achievements on that front.”

“So I think that’s what probably led me to actually join.”

Making The Right Choices

In his first year with RNT, Sameer lost 30 kg!

He made the lifestyle swaps that he needed for his weight loss and succeeded immeasurably.

Rather than going out mindlessly, Sameer’s idea of a good time is going to the gym and focusing on himself.

“On a Thursday or even sometimes a Tuesday I used to say, ‘Let’s go out for a cheeky drink after work.’ It’s just a way to decompress or maybe just talk about the day and vent a little bit.

“These are all nice good rational aspects of why to do that but that part just doesn’t fit my life anymore.

“The fitness aspect, the gym aspect, has, that’s become my sort of decompression time, as well as my focus time on actually achieving something in the gym.”

Using the gym as time for himself means that there is still plenty of time to spend with his kids.

More importantly, he still has the energy for them!

“When I get back from the gym, I’m still focused and I can be there for my kids.

“It’s about the quality of your presence. That is a very big aspect.

“If you live in a certain way, it could completely zap any spare time that you have, which you could be spending with them doing something active and actually full of fun.”

Weight Loss That Sticks

Throughout the five years down on the scales, Sameer has moved countries twice, home five times and welcomed another beautiful addition to the family.

Currently living in Singapore, Sameer has shown that you can lose weight and transform your life no matter what the circumstances.

The support of his family and friends has created a life that Sameer loves, with his health and family at the very centre.

“My wife is my rock in all aspects of my life and this was no different.

“I’m incredibly fortunate that I had someone who was so supportive of this and would kind of back me when it comes to, making certain decisions during the process.”

The Physical Is The Vehicle

Sameer’s weight loss drove him to thrive in all other aspects of his life.

“It’s given me focus and discipline. That aspect is something that really resonates through all aspects of my life now. It’s allowed me to really prioritize.”

“Whether it’s focusing on my training and achieving results in that aspect of my life or making sure that I’ve prioritized my family life and being there for my kids.”

Being a role model was important to Sameer as a father. With his current lifestyle, his family have all found a love for fitness.

He’s even inspired his kids to exercise and get their steps in as well!

“They’re always there whenever we go to the park and you’ve got the outdoor gym, they’re always jumping on the equipment. They’re trying to get the chin-ups going and everything else.”

Just Go For It

Here’s what Sameer would say to someone trying to start their weight loss journey:

“I’d say for the person that’s starting is trust the process. Just trust it. It will work out if you trust it and follow it.

“It’s not easy. There are no shortcuts in doing this type of achieving this type of goal or being on this type of journey.

“I think you’ve just got to take the plunge and give it a go. There’s never a good time for this. It’s not a quick fix, it’s not a short-term goal; this has the potential to change your life.”
