For years Rita had grappled with low self-confidence.
Her life circumstances were quite complex with many demands that left her feeling drained.
She was exhausted and wished she could have the energy to embrace each day with positivity and optimism.
Rita became a mother at the age of 49.
“I had to give birth via c-section and it took me some time to recover. A few months after my son was born, I entered menopause. The birth coupled with my body going through this change affected me deeply. I had minimal mobility and no core strength left.
I felt so weak that I stopped caring about the way I looked. I didn’t like the clothes I was wearing. To be honest, it wasn’t even about the clothes…I hated the way they looked on me.”
Adding to her challenges was that Rita cared for her adult brother-in-law.
“I live with my brother-in-law, who has learning difficulties. He is very demanding and dealing with him is tough.”
To make matters worse, Rita was stuck in an unsatisfying job with a toxic environment and difficult bosses.
“My son was growing and I needed to be 100% present for him, but there was so much negativity that it affected the quality of time I spent with him. Kids pick up on parents’ vibes and I felt he could sense my unhappiness.”
Rita thought if she could lose a few pounds she’d feel better about herself so tried to diet. However, the lack of a proper plan and understanding of nutrition hindered her progress and contributed to recurring setbacks.
“I realised I had to take back control of my life and start putting myself first to be the parent I wanted to be.”
Rewiring habits
Rita struggled with emotional eating, with consistency being her biggest hurdle.
“I would lose a couple of kgs and treat myself. My habits weren’t aligned with my goals either as I would stay up late into the night snacking in front of the television.”
The absence of structure in her daily schedule led her to put her own health and well-being at the bottom of the priority list.
“I wanted to spend all my free time with my son and family. So taking time to exercise was hard.”
When Rita started with RNT, she got exactly what she needed, a structured approach with an integrated accountability network that helped her adhere to the plan.
“The RNT process makes you reassess your lifestyle. It prompted me to break long-standing habits like late nights in front of the telly and snacking. Seeing results soon after implementing these changes gave me the motivation to give it me all.”
Embracing Change
Through her journey with RNT, Rita has evolved in all aspects of her life.
This transformation has emboldened her to make decisions she hesitated to act on before.
After years, Rita exudes a newfound sense of self-assurance.
The low self-confidence that once plagued her has dissipated, replaced by a genuine belief in her abilities.
“After my journey with RNT, I had the courage to quit my toxic job without having another job to jump into immediately. I interviewed for positions I wouldn’t have applied for before and now I’m delighted to find myself in a new role that I find rewarding and challenging!”
