5 and a bit weeks until the Ealing Half Marathon now.

After my deload week, the training block gets pretty juicy now with some tough sessions.

I’m really enjoying the process this time round as I’m putting together my new running technique along with training methods I’ve never tried (like tempo sessions!).

A week after the Ealing Half Marathon I’ll be flying to New Jersey to host our first ever Enter The Void Workshop in the US.

I’m super pumped for this - we’ve hired a big space for it and it’s set to be an action packed event for:
    • Maximising training performance in the gym
    • Meeting like-minded people on a transformation
I wanted to do something special for our Transformation Thursday readers so…

If you’re free on Saturday 5th October and want to attend this event, reply back with the word VOID for the link to buy your ticket ($50 only).

    Let’s dive in…

3 Ways To Look, Feel & Perform Your Best

    1. “Spot stop swap” for reduced snacking

I like Jay Shetty’s framework (from his book Think Like A Monk) for beating bad habits here:

Spot - Clock the feeling (“I feel like I want a snack”)

Stop - Ask why (“Why do I want a snack? What’s the trigger?”)

Swap - Do something else (“let me go for a walk instead and call a friend”)

I think it works great for beat snacking, and getting to the root cause of why we snack.

    2. Reducing wardrobe decisions!

One of the biggest game changers for more mental bandwidth is simplifying and automating one of the following:
    • Your clothing choices (ie. giving yourself a uniform)
    • Your daily routine (ie. when you go to the gym, etc)
    • Your meals (ie. eating similar foods 80% of the time)
I recorded a quick video of what I’ve been doing since 2015 here.

    3. Don’t die in your cardio sessions

I’m learning with my running that most of your cardio doesn’t need to kill you.

The goal for my “easy runs” is to choose an intensity I could easily do for double the prescribed time.

I used to always think cardio needed to be done all out to get a training effect. But the opposite is true.

I now try to feel good, not battered. I’m breathing a little more but I could maintain a conversation if I needed to.

Next time you’re doing some low-intensity cardio (on whichever machine or outdoors), try this approach instead.

Save the high-intensity work for the gym!

Want To Go Deeper In Your Journey?

This week on RNT Fitness Radio I’m joined by long-term RNTer Sameer Kotecha, who lost 30kg in his first year at RNT, before going on to improve his physique AND keep it off in the four years since.

Sameer’s journey is an excellent example of executing our Five Phase Method to perfection.

Before joining Sameer was a new dad working a busy job and living a hectic lifestyle where naturally, bad habits creeped in.

After seeing a friend go on the RNT Journey, he decided he wanted to make a change.

Throughout the five years, he’s moved countries twice, home five times and welcomed another beautiful addition to the family.

Residing in Singapore, Sameer shares how powerful online coaching can be, as well as how there’s never a good or bad time to do this, only the opportunity you have in front of you.
